Tell us a little about yourself

I am 20 years old and I am a goalie on the Goucher College Women’s lacrosse team. I have been playing lacrosse since the 4th grade. I was diagnosed with CF just before my 2nd birthday. I have a twin brother who does not have CF. I love to be outside, the beach is my absolute favorite place. I also really love country music.

“If someone tells me I can’t do something it makes me want to work harder"

Tell us what motivates you the most.

I am pretty competitive, so I am motivated by winning. For me, that applies to both sports and life. If someone tells me I can’t do something it makes me want to work harder to make sure I can, not really to prove them wrong but more to not be defined by someone else’s limits.

Tell us about your exercise routine.  What exercises do you enjoy doing?

I don’t really love to exercise to be honest, but I know I have to. I really enjoy my Mom’s Peloton bike. I much prefer cardio to weights, but I have to do both while in-season at school. I am trying to make it more of my routine.

Why do you exercise? Has exercise changed during quarantine this past year?

I exercise to stay in shape for lacrosse but I also know that keeping my lungs in shape is super important. Sadly during quarantine, I could not be at school with my team so my exercise routine was mostly at home. I walked outside with my Mom and rode the bike. I am not the most disciplined person in the world, so it wasn’t my favorite time, I like to work out with other people.

How do you stay motivated during quarantine?

I knew that eventually I would get to go back to school and be with my team, so I didn’t want to be a hot mess     when I got there!

What are your goals for the future?

I want to learn to be more disciplined to exercise even when I no longer play lacrosse. I am studying to be a teacher and get a degree in education. I hope to be a first grade teacher someday.

Who is your role model?

I would say that my Mom is my role model. Even when she has super busy days with work or taking care of me and my family, she always finds the time to do things that she knows will keep her healthy.
