Listen to your body. Coach GP runs to a planned schedule and encourages his athletes to do the same. His first priority is to listen to his body. “If I do not feel like running, I am confident that I am resting for the right reasons and not just because I am lazy. I can discern between the two.”

Cross train. Coach cross trains through surfing, rowing, shadow boxing and jump roping to work on his speed and agility and mental processing skills. He also takes time to play with his children. “I believe in the benefits of yoga, Pilates, chiropractic work, active isolated stretching and whiling away my time by relaxing with a cup of java in a Dunkin Doughnuts or Starbucks. I watch the world go by or shoot the breeze with my buddies.”

Maintain balance. Coach advises: “Do not be compulsive with your life. Be extreme by all means- live life to the full- but live it in the image of a planet that contains the necessary capacity for delicate balance.” He contrasts the intense fierceness of a raging hurricane with the gentle sound of a dove cooing. “Balance my friends is the essence of life,” he exclaims.
